How To Test Your Stream ​

The way to test your stream on Slipmat is a soundcheck: a private, unlisted test run that lets you check your audio and video are right before you go live in front of an audience.

A soundcheck is just for you. It's unlisted and reachable only by its own link, it never appears in Slipmat's listings, it doesn't mark you as "live", and it isn't part of your event history. You can share the link with a collaborator if you'd like a second pair of ears, but no one finds it on their own.

Run a soundcheck ​

  1. Start a soundcheck from your Artist Dashboard — do this first, before connecting your stream.
  2. Connect your streamer using your usual Streaming URL and Key (both are in your dashboard). Your video appears on the soundcheck page once the stream connects.
  3. Open the soundcheck page to see and hear exactly what your audience would. Check that your audio sounds right and your video looks the way you want.
  4. End the soundcheck when you're done. If you forget, it also closes on its own after a while once no stream is connected.

A soundcheck is a cold start: you can only begin one when you have no live or upcoming-live show running. Start the soundcheck first, then connect your stream — a clean, private check with nothing public involved.

While you're connected, your stream monitor shows whether Slipmat is receiving your stream and flags any quality problems it detects, such as low audio bitrate, a missing audio channel, or an unsuitable resolution. Fix anything it warns you about before your real show.
