Slipmat and AI
Slipmat takes generally a positive stance on AI-tools but our position is nuanced.
Slipmat is made by humans for humans, who enjoy listening music made and played by humans (often with machines).
Machine-generated music and other content should be labelled
Section titled “Machine-generated music and other content should be labelled”While some might consider purely machine-generated content like music as art, many may not. We think that anyone is free to do and express themselves in any way they like, AI-generated content, especially music here on Slipmat, should be labelled appropriately.
You’re free to play even fully AI-generated events on Slipmat as long as you label them clearly and don’t deceive people. Posting AI-generated comments or chatting using an AI-bot is not ok unless its clear that the text has been produced by a machine. We reserve the right to limit or remove any AI-generated content from the site, and we fully expect to update our take on things as well.
We support and encourage AI-workflows
Section titled “We support and encourage AI-workflows”Large language models, what most people mean when talking about AI, are a great tool for many things. We build all our tools in a way that can be easily used by AI-tools and extended using them.
We also maintain a dedicated tools to connect your own AI-agents to our services which allows you to delegate unimportant work to machines and give you more time to focus on what’s important: your music.
Humans should not be forced to read machine-generated text
Section titled “Humans should not be forced to read machine-generated text”Making humans read AI-generated text is just plain rude. While we use AI-assisted workflows to improve and proofread text, we pledge to never to publish documentation or anything else on Slipmat by AI an unedited by a human. All our content meant for humans is produced or at the very least edited by a human.
